Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. McCollum will be 11:00 AM Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the mortuary.
James Clayton “J.C.” McCollum, 87, of 106 Belleview Drive, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Heartland-East in Greenville. Born in Liberty he was the widower of Barbara Holcombe McCollum and a son of the late James Wade and Ruth Gravley McCollum.
Mr. McCollum was a graduate of Liberty High School, where he played running back on the 1947 State Championship Team.
J.C. retired from Cornell Dublier, and was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. He was also a United States Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving are a daughter, Pam Medlin of Liberty; a son, Mark McCollum (Grace) of Simpsonville; a sister, Edna Kelley of Easley; three grandchildren, Jessica Porter, Kristen Gallant, and Zach Medlin; 6 great grandchildren, Sarah, Emma, James, Chris, Jayce, and Kasen.
The family will be at the home Adam & Jessica Porter, 212 Holder Street, Pickens SC 29671. Liberty Mortuary is handling arrangements.
