Funeral services to honor Karen’s life will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday at Mountain View Bapist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park will be private.
Ida Karen Murphree, 62, of 1790 Walhalla Highway, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Baptist Easley Hospital. Born in Pickens she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Esther Ellenburg Murphree.
Karen retired from E.C.P. where she worked for 28 years. Her hobbies included needlework, reading, Atlanta Braves baseball and spending time with her family.
She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, where she taught Preschool Sunday School for over 44 years.
Surviving are a sister, Debbie Hawkins (Jim) of Aiken; two nieces, Jennifer Casto (Carson) of Lexington, and Juliette Hawkins of South Africa; a nephew, Tim Hawkins of Atlanta; a great niece, Patton Casto and a great nephew, Carter Casto.
To continue her legacy of teaching children the love for Jesus, the family requests memorials be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, Children’s Ministry, 336 Mountain View Church Road, Six Mile SC 29682.
The family will be at the home. Liberty Mortuary is handling arrangements.
