Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Howland will be 2:00 PM Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45PM at the mortuary.
Helen Craig Scruggs Howland, 93, of 519 Wolf Creek School Road, died Thursday, February 11, 2015 at Manna Health & Rehab in Pickens. Born in Pickens she was the widow of Merle Howland a daughter of the late Rev. Clarence Craig and Ada Brown Craig.
She was a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church and throughout her life one of her greatest joys was children of all ages.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Stephens of Easley; two sons, Robert “Bobby Scruggs (Cindy) of Pickens, and Ronnie Scruggs (Becky) of Easley; 16 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Sheldon Leon Scruggs, two daughters, Carolyn Scruggs Shipman Holcombe, and Margaret Ann Scruggs; a granddaughter, Patti Shipman, and two great grandchildren, Derrick Lankford and Elizabeth Holder.
