Funeral services to honor the life of Dr. Waters will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Newton Hobson Chapel & Fine Arts Center, 737 Wesleyan Drive, Central SC (on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University). Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens SC. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Liberty Mortuary.
Dr. Harold M. Waters, 66, of 205 Black Bottom Road, died Friday, June 20, 2014. Born in Easley he was a son of the late Marvin Dillon and Addie Dorothy Chapman Waters.
He received his B.S. from Armstrong College, his Masters of Education from Clemson University, and his Doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Waters taught for 33 years in the public schools of South Carolina. He served as a regular education teacher, special education teacher, and later as an administrator. Currently he was a Professor at Southern Wesleyan University in Central. In 2009 he received the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Dr. Waters loved spending time with his students, and many people will remember the time he spent at Hardees in Liberty every morning having breakfast.
Surviving are three brothers, Charles Waters (Linda) of Anderson, Steve Waters (Wanda) of Pendleton, and Ricky Waters (Tara) of Central; five nieces, Tonya, Stephanie, Jana, Melissa, and Ashley; five nephews, Brad, Tim, Phillip, Josh, and Easton; several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Frances Busha.
The family will be at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to The Mount Church, 827 Hwy. 93, Clemson SC 29631, or Southern Wesleyan University, Education Department, PO Box 1020, Central SC 29630.
