Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Lawrence will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, October 1, 2020 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery. Donald Gerry Lawrence, 70, of Liberty, South Carolina, died Monday, September 28, 2020 at Prisma Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Toccoa, he was a son of the late James Manley and Mary Ruth Miller Lawrence.

He retired from Woodside Mill and was a member of Cornerstone Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Lawrence of the home; 2 daughters, Lynn Porter (Mitchell) of Easley, Betty Jo Duncan of Liberty; 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a brother, Bruce Lawrence of Maggie Valley, NC; also surviving are numerous other friends and family who affectionately call him “Pops”.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet LewAllen.

Gerry was one of my favorite people in this whole word.We had many talks over the years ,and had some very good times. He was not only my father in law, he was one of my best friends. I played guitar in church and I will never forget the day he came up to me in church and asked if I knew how to play,I SAW THE LIGHT and I said oh yea that's a good one. and I'm pretty sure it was the very next service that he got up and sang it. I loved Gerry very much and hope to see him again in Heaven.

Gerry was a great friend and neighbor, I would stop and talk with him often most of the time about the lord,I will miss him very much!

Gary was a special brother in Christ, I will miss him dearly until we meet again. How can two walk together unless they agree. Ronnie Meece

My thoughts and prayers are with the family, so sorry for your loss. I met Gerry when I went to work for Ingles, in the early years he would bring his mom in to shop and while she was doing that he would go get carts in the parking lot and bring them into the store, through the years he would always make a point when he was in the store to find me and we would chat for awhile he use to call me and a few others his "Ingles Angels". Later, he would refer to me as his "sister", he was a very special man who loved the Lord and would always have an encouraging word when you needed it. He would tell me when he was no longer on this earth not to be sad because he would be in glory! He will definitely be missed. Dawn Williamson
