Funeral services to honor Mrs. Sanders life will be conducted 1:00 PM Thursday, September 13, 2018 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the mortuary.

Clara Merck Sanders, 93, of 361 Cartee Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Born in Liberty she was the widow of John William “Bill” Sanders and a daughter of the late W.M. Franklin and Lou Ella Rackley Merch.

She retired from Greenwood Mills and was a longtime member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Ronnie Sanders and his wife Glenda of Liberty; a sister, Ella Mae Holden of Easley; two brothers, Grady Merck and Fulton Merck; three grandchildren, Amy Carr, Cara Seeton, and Ryan Sanders; 5 great grandchildren, Josh Seeton, Cameron Carr, Sean Carr, Jordan Sanders, and Noah Seeton; one great great grandchild, Jeremiah Seeton.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, W. Melvin Sanders, a sister, Addie Edens, and five brothers, Furman, Jule, Lester, Herman, and Luther Merck.

The family will be at the home of the son, 367 Cartee Road, Liberty SC.

Lit a candle in memory of Clara Merck Sanders

Ronnie and Glenda, I’m so sorry in the passing of your momma. I really enjoyed talking with her and your daddy. I always look y’alls way when I go by to pick up my g-babies from school . Our friend Beulah passed away and I was looking at her arrangements and I saw Clara’s name. I would of surely been at the funeral and paid my respects to her.She was a wonderful lady. I’m sorry we live so close but don’t stay connected until too late. She is a Cartee Toad Angel now. She is @ rest and whole. My momma passed away 4/16/2018 and I miss her like crazy, I don’t get out much because it is so hard. Things and places make me feel blue but I know one day I will see my loved ones again as y’all will to.

One of the most memorable moments that I remember was when it was Ms Clare and I were the only ones In a Sunday night bible study. Just to sit down with her and study God’s word with her and to here her pray was one of the sweetest moments in my life. I could honestly say that I had only one person to pray for me that it would be her.
