Funeral services for Mrs. Burgess will be held Tuesday at 3:00 PM at Arial Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Liberty Mortuary. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Blanche Wood Burgess, 75, of Easley, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 08, 2012 at Manna Health & Rehab in Pickens. Born in Sunset she was the widow of Ivory Burgess. She was raised in the Shady Grove Community a daughter of the late James T. and Ressie Ellenburg Wood.
She retired from Bosch but had previously worked 33 years at Sangamo.
Mrs. Burgess was a longtime member of Arial Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, and later worked in the nursery.
Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Anderson and her husband Steve, and Wanda Stamey all of Pickens; a son, Jerry Burgess and his wife, Sheila of Liberty; a sister, Earlene Meece of Pickens; three brothers, Charles Wood of Chesnee, Morris Wood of Six Mile, and Mark Wood of Pickens; 5 grandchildren, Gretchen Reeves, Joshua Burgess, April Anderson, Jennifer Hannah, Caleb Burgess; five great grandchildren, Kendyl Anderson, Savannah Burgess, Jay Reeves, Jeremy Burgess, and Ben Reeves.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ivory Denise Burgess, two grandchildren, Amanda and Adri-Anne Stamey.
The family would like to extend their appreciation & gratitude to the Staff of Manna Health & Rehab, and a special thanks to her C.N.A. Sherie, and also the staff of Ark Hospice, especially Heather, Christine, Jean, Jessica and Chaplain Mike for all of their kind and considerate care of Mrs. Burgess.
