Benjamin Francis Bailey, 89, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Oakmont West Nursing Center. Born in Florence, SC, he was the widower of the late Beatrice Thompson Bailey and a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Alma Marie Ball Bailey. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a brother, Hugh Bailey, Sr. and his wife Ann of Liberty; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, John Bailey.
A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Bailey will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Memorials may be made to The Gideons International: PO Box 112 Liberty, SC 29657. Liberty Mortuary and Cremation Services are handling arrangements.
