Ben F. Whitaker, Jr., 83, of Carolina Drive, died Saturday at Majesty Health and Rehab in Easley. Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ben F. and Bernice Smith Whitaker, Sr. He had worked in the textile industry with Libco Mills and Woodside Mills as well as for the City of Liberty. He was a member of Ruhamah Baptist Church.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Judy Roper of Liberty, Barbara Andrews of Pickens and Edith Bryson of Liberty; 2 sons, Garvin and Lewis Whitaker both of Liberty; a sister, Rachel Perkins of Liberty; 7 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Catherine Chambers Whitaker; a sister, Mae Smith; and a brother, Martin Reid Whitaker.
