It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of our precious son, Beckham Emmett Bruce, who left this world on June 19, 2025, in Laurens County, South Carolina. Born on December 15, 2022, in Charleston, South Carolina, Beckham was truly one in a million.
Diagnosed with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, a rare and life-threatening immunodeficiency disorder, Beckham faced challenges that most will never know. Despite undergoing a bone marrow transplant and enduring numerous medical procedures in his short life, Beckham carried a strength and spirit that inspired everyone who knew him. He was a true warrior, wrapped in the gentleness of a child.
Beckham’s light shone brightly in every room. He had an infectious smile, a contagious laugh, and a heart full of joy. He adored tools, wheels of any kind, music, and dancing. He found delight in life’s simple pleasures and radiated love and warmth wherever he went. Beckham’s courage, determination, and joy in the face of adversity made him nothing short of extraordinary.
To know Beckham was to witness grace and bravery beyond measure. He gave and received love without limit, and though his time on Earth was brief, his impact is everlasting. His life was a gift, and his legacy will continue in the hearts of all who cherished him.
Beckham is preceded in death by his grandmother, “Mema” Terry Cote.
He is survived by his mother, Dorthymae Cote, and father, Austin Bruce; siblings Landen Sheriff, Carlton Bruce and Charleigh Bruce; his grandparents Holly Bowers (William), George Cote, and Robert Sheriff (Wanda); his aunts Tabitha Sheriff (Dana) and Savannah Bruce; his uncles Robert Sheriff II, James Bowers, and Michael Parker; and many cousins, including Alyssa and Annabelle Sheriff.
A service celebrating Beckham’s life will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Camp Creek Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.
