A celebration of Barry’s life will be held, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Liberty Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Barry Ray Gillespie, 58, of Liberty, South Carolina, died Monday, January 18, 2021 at The Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca, SC. Born in Asheville, NC, he was a son Velma McQueen Loftis of Hartwell, GA and the late Jay Gillespie. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his mother is a daughter, Falon Miller(James) of Liberty; 3 sons, Cory Gillespie(Kala), of Anderson, Darren Gillespie, of Easley, Caleb Gillespie(Sisney), of Greenville; 3 sisters, Karen Morris of Easley, Linda Jones of Powdersville and Jan Smith of Wellford; 2 brothers Brian Gillespie of Hartwell, GA and Wayne Gillespie of Greer; and 4 grandchildren, Madison Miller, Tyler Miller, Haizel Gillespie and Hailie Gillespie.

I just found out about Barry passing. Its been about 17 months since he passed away. Barry was my next door neighbor when Iived on Merck st in Liberty. Barry was a good man. A very sweet guy. I missed him when he moved. Then I eventually moved. Didn’t see him for several years then I ran into him in town it was good to see him but now I see he’s moved to heaven. I am heart broken but one day I hope to see him again.
