Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. King will be 11:00 AM Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel with burial at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at the home of Alan and Angie King, 217 Pinedale Road, Liberty SC.
Thelma Lorene Stewart King, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Greenville Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Born in Six Mile, she was a daughter of the late Mack Luther and Lillie Simmons Stewart. She was a longtime member of Ruhamah Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, WMU Leader, and VBS Director, through the years.
Surviving are her husband of seventy years, Walter Edwin King of the home; a daughter, Brenda Tyler (John) of Powdersville; three sons, Horace King (Anvy), Randal King (Judy P.), and Larry King, all of Liberty; a sister, Mildred Goodnough of Big Stone Gap, VA; 12 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Edwin King, and his wife, F. Judy King, and a daughter-in-law, Debbie King.
Mrs. King was an avid quilter who loved to cook and garden and especially loved caring for her family.
