Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Smith will be held 12:00 PM Noon on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at East Side Baptist Church (1850 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg). The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 until 11:45 AM at the church.
Entombment services with military honors will follow at 3:00 PM at Liberty Memorial Gardens Mausoleum for friends and relatives in the Liberty area.
Randolph Smith, 87, of 310 Savannah Plains Drive, formerly of Liberty, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 24, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Liberty he was a son of the late William Robert and Nancy Hovack Smith.
He was a graduate of Liberty High School and later attended Furman Business School. He retired from the United States Post Office, and also owned and operated Smith’s Accounting Service from 1949-2002. He was a former Liberty City Councilman, a Pickens County School Board Member, and a former deacon at East Side Baptist Church in Liberty.
He was currently a member of East Side Baptist Church in Spartanburg.
Randolph proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army, where he was wounded in battle and received a Purple Heart.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Ruth Childs Smith of the home; a daughter, Jane Davis of Spartanburg; two sons and daughters in law, Tim and Ruth Smith of Pacolet, and Daniel and Robin Smith of Spartanburg; a sister and brother in law, Jo and Bradley Wham of Easley; two grandchildren, Ross Smith and Danielle Davis.
In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to East Side Baptist Church, Builiding Fund, 1850 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg SC 29307, or Young Life, PO Box 1314, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
