Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Brooks will be conducted 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at West End Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Liberty Mortuary.

Sophie Mae Brooks, 88, of Easley, South Carolina, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Oconee Memorial Hospital. Born in Liberty, she was the widow of John C. Brooks and a daughter of the late William Dyre and Delphie Lee Sentell Stewart.

Mrs. Brooks loved to read her bible and was an avid gardener. She was a homemaker and a member of West End Baptist Church.

Surviving is a grandson, Jonathan Strong (Wendy) of Liberty; two granddaughters, Kristi Crowe (Tony) of Easley, and Sarah Webb (Jess) of Pendleton; also surviving are 9 great grandchildren, Blake, Cassie, Braden, Carter, Kaylee, Dailynn, Eli, Jerred, and Andrew.

She was the last survivor of her immediate family. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Renee Stewart, and a son, John Michael Brooks.
