It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Genevie Wilson Fowler, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Liberty community. She was born on August 19, 1932, in Central, South Carolina, and she left this world peacefully on April 25, 2025, at the age of 92. Born in Central she was the widow of William L. “Billy” Fowler and a daughter of the late Edgar and Mattie Elrod Wilson.
She dedicated her life to her family and her work. She spent many years as a skilled seamstress at JP Stevens, where she was well-loved by her coworkers. After retiring, she opened her heart and home to children, providing care and warmth that will always be remembered. Her passion for nurturing and her dedication to the next generation truly illuminated her life.
For over 63 years, she was a devoted member of Calumet Baptist Church, where she worked tirelessly in the nursery for more than 60 years. Her compassion and spirit shone through every child she cared for and every life she touched.
Those left to cherish her memory are 2 daughters, Lynn Fowler of Liberty and Lisa Stone (Matt) of Easley; a son, Randy Fowler (Kaye) of Liberty; a grandson, Kevin Fowler (Kelli) of Liberty; and 2 great grandchildren, Kason and Kaylee.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Fowler will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave to others.
