It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mrs. Edith Bowie McJunkin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Liberty Community, on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Manna Health & Rehab in Pickens.
Born in Greenwood, she was the widow of Walter Ansel “Walt” McJunkin and a daughter of the late Claude and Louise Hall Bowie.
Mrs. McJunkin was a longtime member of East Side Baptist Church. She retired from Belk in Easley where she worked many years as a buyer and manager.
Her family was very important to her, and there was nothing that brought her more joy than spending time with all her boys and all her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her three sons, Steve McJunkin (Susan) of Central, Neal McJunkin (Dale) of Liberty, and Kent McJunkin (Tonya) of LaGrange, GA; eight grandchildren, Chris McJunkin, Jennifer Hill, Zack McJunkin, Jessica Suttles, Brytnee Reichert, Raine McJunkin, Blakelee McJunkin, and Brooklyn McJunkin; fourteen great grandchildren, Brock, Justin Jr., Rebekah, Troy, Braydon, Aeryal, Bradley, Fallon, Rivers, Noah, Emery, Zoey, Cayden, and Chapel; three great-great grandchildren, Colton, Bentley, and Layton
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Lane McJunkin, a sister, Pam Jones, and a brother, Durell Bowie.
Her life will be honored and celebrated on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 until 12:30 PM at the mortuary.
