It is with a blend of sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Brenda Joyce Ann McClain Hamlin, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on Monday, October 6, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Born on August 4, 1947, in Sandy Springs, SC, she was the widow of Randell Dewayne Hamlin, Sr. and a daughter of the late Oscar L. McClain, Sr. and Mildred Ray McClain.

Brenda’s spirit radiated warmth and love, touching everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was a remarkable homemaker, dedicating her life to her family. She was a long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church in Liberty and took immense joy in serving the Lord, embodying her faith in everything she did. Her green thumb allowed her to cultivate beautiful gardens filled with flowers and vegetables, and she cherished canning the fresh produce she grew. Sewing was another of her passions, showcasing her creativity and skill.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Greta Ferguson, Teresa Smith (Russell), and Olen Hamlin (April); her daughter in law, Rhonda Hamlin, and cherished her time with her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Terry McClain and her sister, Judy Atkins. Her love for family was boundless and inspired all that she did.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Randell Dewayne “Dell” Hamlin, Jr., a son in law, Neil Ferguson, a sister, Mary Williams, and three brothers, Oscar L. McClain, Jr., James McClain and Harold McClain.

In honor of Brenda’s life the family will host a memorial at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Fairview Baptist Church, 1106 Robinson Bridge Road, Liberty SC.

Friends and family are invited to join us in this joyous remembrance of Brenda, where we will share stories, laughter, and love-reflecting the beautiful life she led. Let us come together to commemorate the legacy of a true gardener of joy, whose hands tended to both flowers and family with equal love.

Mrs. Brenda was so sweet she brought light anywhere she went. She was so nice and easy to talk too.

She was such a loving and very Caring Lady she loved my babies as if they were her own grandbabies. We loved her so much.

I’m gonna miss you Aunt Brenda. I would normally be texting you “goodnight” right now, but instead it’s a goodbye. I’m going to miss our daily texts. One of the last times we spoke on the phone you told me (with your little giggle) “I’m gonna get to see your mama soon”. I hope her and Steve are cutting up with you right now just like ya’ll were in this picture. I’m gonna miss you so much!

RIP Aunt Brenda you'll be forever loved and greatly missed . Thank you for all you done for me when I was growing up. Sometimes I think if it wasn't for you ,grandma and Aunt Judy I wouldn't be here today. I love you Aunt Brenda and give my mama a big hug and tell tell her I miss her. I'll see you again. HUGS
