Betty Whitmire

Our beloved Betty Crowe Whitmire, 83, formerly of Liberty, peacefully passed away on October 13, 2024, in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Pickens County she was the widow of Johnny James Whitmire and a daughter of the late Verner and Corrie Gray Crowe.

She was a 1959 graduate of Liberty High School and was longtime member of Roanoke Baptist Church and spent most of her life as a homemaker.

She raised a loving family, leaving behind her son Keith Whitmire (Karen) of McCormick, as well as her cherished grandchildren Brooke Cummings (Steven), Madeline Whitmire (Josh Hicks), Heidi Whitmire, Kasey McTier, and Katelyn Thompson (Steven). She is also survived by her dear sister, Bonnie Powell and a great grandchild Colin Cummings.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, James Michael Whitmire, a daughter in law, Debbie Whitmire, and sister, Diane Crowe.

Funeral services to honor Betty’s life will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at the mortuary.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Roanoke Baptist Church Cemetery.

Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
