Anthony Charles “Tony” Young, a loving husband, father, and martial arts instructor, passed away peacefully at home from natural causes on September 23, 2024, in Easley, SC at the age of 60.

Born on August 4, 1964, in Greenville, South Carolina he was a son of Betty Chapman Young and the late Porter Young. He had a passion for martial arts that defined his life.

As the owner and instructor at Youngs Mixed Martial Arts for over three decades, he shared his knowledge, discipline, and indomitable spirit with countless students. Holding the esteemed rank of an 8th degree black belt in Kajukenbo, he inspired those around him to push their limits and embrace the principles of hard work and perseverance.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his wife Shawna Young, his sons Jerald Young and AJ Young, a grandson, Ashton, his stepdaughter, Taylor Cowan, a step son, Alex Cowan, his sister, Aisha, and three brothers, Porter, Rick, and Ian.

The celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 12, 2024 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 until 12:30 PM at the mortuary. A livestream of the service will be available by visiting his obituary page.

Friends, family, and students whose lives he touched are invited to come together to pay their respects and commemorate the remarkable impact he had on all who knew him.
