Mary Ellen Porter Watson

Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Watson will be 4:00 PM Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Liberty Mortuary.

Mary Ellen Porter Watson, 83, of 8 Wilson Avenue, widow of Hubert Watson, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her residence.

Born in Pickens she was a daughter of the late Ernest Craig and Edna Durham Porter. She retired from J.P. Stevens with 42 years of service and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She loved to cook and take care of her flowers.

Surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Jerry H. and Jean Watson of Liberty, and Tony C. and Angie Watson of Liberty; a sister, Jean Dobson of Pickens; two brothers, L.G. Porter and Bobby Joe Porter both of Easley; three grandchildren, Joshua Watson, Ashley Watson, and Meredith Watson; a great grandson, Zakk Watson; a great great granddaughter, Sadie Waldrop.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Shane Watson, and a brother, Coy Porter.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Open Arms Hospice, 1836 West Georgia Road, Simpsonville SC 29680.
