Gary Richard Smith

Gary Richard Smith, 65, of 120 Griffith Drive, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his residence. Born in LaFayette, Georgia he was a son of Opal Pickle Smith and the late John Wesley Smith.

Mr. Smith was an Agency Manager for Modern Woodmen of America for many years, and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Liberty, SC. During his retirement he enjoyed collecting oil lamps. He was a member of Gideon’s International.

Surviving in addition to his mother of Armuchee, GA, are his wife, Gwendolyn Carter Smith of the home; a daughter, Paige Pittard and her husband Jason of Liberty; a sister, Amy Johnson of Armuchee, GA; three grandchildren, Joel, Jacob, and Sarah Pittard.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted on 2:00 PM, Monday, November 12, 2012 at Floyd Springs Baptist Church in Armuchee, Georgia. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 PM at the Liberty Mortuary, Liberty SC.

Mr. Smith’s body will lie in state on Monday, from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at the church.
