Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. King will be 11:00 AM Friday at Flat Rock Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Liberty Mortuary and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Virgil Eugene “Bill” King, 90, of 875 Five Forks Road, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Liberty he was a son of the late Zuela and Lillie Campbell King.
He was President of King’s Sunset Nursery, and was a Second generation nurseryman. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.
Mr. King was a longtime member of Flat Rock Baptist Church, and will always be remembered for his pecan pies during Christmas time.
Surviving are two sons, Tommy King and his wife Sharon, and Roger King all of Liberty; two sisters, Irene Griffith of Liberty, and Iris Pepper of Easley; three grandchildren, Ashley and Olivia Shaffer, and Noah King.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to his caregivers, Candice Teague, and Lisa Hightower, and also the caregivers at the Foothills Presbyterian Home of Easley.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials are requested to Flat Rock Baptist Church, 115 Slab Bridge Road, Liberty SC 29657.
The family will be at the home. Liberty Mortuary is handling arrangements.
