Funeral Services to honor the life of Mrs. Walters will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
Velma Garrett Walters, 87, of Winding Creek Road died Monday at Redeemer Health and Rehab in Pickens. Born in Six Mile, she was the widow of Senior Master Sgt. USAF Retired, Samuel William Walters, Jr. and a daughter of the late Vard and Pearl Waldrop Garrett. She was retired from Ryobi and loved to sew, play bingo, read, play rummy and word puzzles. She was also a member of Norris First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda Walters and Pat Walters, both of Liberty; two sisters, June Hunter of Norris and Melva Perry of Liberty; two brothers, Fred Garrett of Anderson and Morris Garrett of Florida; three grandchildren, Gene and Jeff Ray and Paula Richardson; a step grandchild, Brooke Walters; and two great grandchildren, Courtney Ray and Blake Richardson.
