Susan Gillespie Roper
Anderson, SC

Susan Carol Gillespie Roper, 62, of 100 Overlook Dive, died Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at her residence. Born in Anderson, she was the wife of Ronnie David Roper of the home and a daughter of the late Donald and Hazel Hiott Gillespie. She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially Drew and Evan. She was a member of Carolina Community Church.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four sons, Shawn Gillespie(Megan) of Liberty, Lennie Roper(Brandi) of Piedmont, Thad Roper(Sandra) of Liberty, and Trent Roper of Liberty; a sister, Shirley Weaver of Belton; two brothers, Brian Gillespie of Easley and Bobby Gillespie of Belton; eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth “Lib” Whitener; and five brothers, Ronnie, Ricky, Donnie, Mike and Andy Gillespie.

The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Carolina Community Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. Reverend Terry Rainey will conduct the service.

God bless Susan and her entire family. I grew up with Lib, Susan, Shirley and all the boys. I'm Allen and Barbara Hiott's step son Keith. I have a fond memory of Susan and Ronnie at our house in Long Creek Acres behind Saco Lowell back in the early 80s. Susan at the piano with my dad Allen Hiott and singing to Bob Segars Old Time Rock and Roll. Enjoyed this whole family growing up. I love you Susan and I'm glad you're with Hazel again and Lib my dad Allen all up there cutting up. God bless you Ronnie and all the kids. God Bless.

Susan was my sister. We have had our trials through the years losing other family members etc. We have also had some of the best times of my life. She had a big personality and one of my very best friends. We lost parents,brothers and a sister.we cried many years and during the years we would remember something funny and burst out laughing.She will remain in my heart forever.
