Private funeral services for Mrs. Bowers will be held at Mt. View Baptist Church followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Her service will be available for viewing at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 on Facebook Live by visiting the Facebook page for Mt. View Baptist Church. For those that would like to pay their respects, Mrs. Bowers will lie in state and be available for viewing, Monday, December 28, 2020 from 2:00 until 5:00 PM at Liberty Mortuary. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and CDC guidlines for social distancing, there will be limited admission and masks will be required.
Paige Hunter Bowers, 96, wife to the late John S. Bowers for 59 years, ascended to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 24, 2020. Born in Pickens, SC, she was the youngest daughter of the late George Earle (Doc) Hunter and Inez Lumpkin Hunter Collins.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Danny Pilgrim of Liberty; son-in-law, Freddie Smith of Jefferson, GA, grandsons and their wives; Derick and Beth Durham of Seneca and Devin and Angie Durham of Pickens, and granddaughter; Wendy Smith of Jefferson, GA. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Cade Durham of Pickens and Paige and David Durham of Seneca, as well as, family friend, Missy Parker.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bowers was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Otis Durham of Pickens and her daughter, Barbara Smith of Jefferson, GA. She was also predeceased by her only sibling; sister, Earlie Grace Hunter.
Mrs. Bowers was known for her love of laughter, beautiful smile, uplifting spirit and unwavering faith. She was also known for her amazing baked macaroni and cheese, lemon and coconut pies, decadent cakes and melt-in-your-mouth homemade biscuits.
She was a wonderful mother who, along with her husband, provided a peaceful and loving home filled with support and encouragement for their daughters. She loved her family and taught them to love each other abundantly. She was their strength in good times and in bad times. They will hold fast to her memory and forever miss her until they see her again.
Through all the trials of life, she remained steadfast in her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Trusting Him and believing in her heart that all things work for good to those who love Him.
The most fervent desire of Mrs. Bowers’ heart was to help others know Jesus . To honor that wish, memorials may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, Missions Fund, P. O. Box 234, Pickens, SC 29671.
