Gloria Miles Squires

Central, SC

Gloria Miles Squires (84 years) of Central, South Carolina, entered into eternal life on November 30, 2025. She had a deep love for Jesus, her husband John, her children and grandchildren and her friends. Born in Camden, SC, she was the daughter of the late Walter Leon Miles and Lillie Easter Owens Miles.

She graduated from Blaney High School and went on to earn her nursing degree through a training program sponsored by Camden Hospital. She worked in local doctors’ offices in Camden, SC and later at Kershaw County Medical Center and Karesh Wing Long Term Care. She loved being a nurse and caring for her family and others.

Gloria lived in Camden, S.C. most of her life, moving with her husband in 2019 to be closer to family. She was blessed by multiple long-time friends (Algie, Barbara, Miriam, Sarah, Martin and Olivia). Gloria enjoyed spending time with her family, practicing her Master Garder skills, reading, feeding her hummingbirds and watching Wheel of Fortune.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Ellison Squires; daughter, Janice Squires Withycombe (Greg); grandchildren Jessica Withycombe and Jordan Withycombe-Green (Erik), daughter in law, Robin Eubanks Squires and Lisa (her caring aide and friend for multiple years). She was predeceased in death by her son, John Alan Squires, and her siblings: Doris Fulmer, Faye Duich, Oliver “Buster” Miles, William “Billy” Miles, Emma Dora Bilbo, Mildred Branham and Betty Poole.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Gloria’s memory to Cannon Memorial Church’s building fund (PO Box 758, Central, SC 29630). In concordance with Gloria’s wishes, the family will hold a private event to celebrate her life.
