Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Merck will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Frances Maw Merck, 93, of Browning Road, died Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the home of her son, Richard. Born in Central, she was the widow to Virgil M. Merck and a daughter of the late John and Ida Kelly Maw.

Mrs. Merck was a homemaker who dearly loved her family. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Patsy Shuman and her husband Douglas of Central; a son, Richard Merck and his wife Sara also of Central; a sister, Allene Medlin of Central; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Nellie Hendricks and Florene Reid, and three brothers, Alfred, Robert and Elmer Maw.
