Evelyn Kay Merck, a mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away at the age of 92 on January 15, 2025. Born on December 23, 1932, in Seneca, South Carolina, she was the widow of Claude Franklin Merck and a daughter of the late Lemuel and Eva Ruth Wilson Kay.
Mrs. Merck found her passion in cosmetology and, inspired by her love for beauty and service, received her license at the age of 40.
A longtime member of the Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy.
Surviving are daughter, Theresa Allred (Jim) of Cary, NC, and her son, Lamar Merck (Antonia) of Six Mile; a sister, Elizabeth Satterfield; a brother, David Kay; also surviving are six grandchildren, Ty Merck, Holly Hollingsworth, Adam Merck, Lyric Merck, T.J. Allred Johnson, and Jammie Allred Napper, and 6 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Nathan, John Samuel, and Joseph Andrew Kay.
Private burial will be held at Six Mile Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.
