It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dana Stephens Phillips, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, who departed from this life on May 13, 2026, at the age of 57.
Born on August 24, 1968, in Easley, South Carolina, Dana was a daughter of Joan Whitlock Stephens and the late Leon Stephens.
Dana’s journey through life was filled with both challenges and triumphs. Following a tragic automobile accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury, Dana exhibited a remarkable strength and tenacity. Her positive attitude remained unwavering despite the subsequent battle with a brain tumor. Friends and family were continually inspired by her resilience and her ability to find joy in life’s precious moments.
A devoted member of Westwood Baptist Church, Dana’s faith was an integral part of her life. She found solace and strength in her beliefs, sharing her spirit with those around her.
Dana’s love for her family was paramount; she was an adoring wife to her husband Dean Phillips and a nurturing mother to her daughters, Hannah Ruth and Amelia Rose Phillips. Her role as a grandmother to Carter Alexander brought her immense happiness, and their bond was truly special. She is also survived by her mother, Joan Stephens, and two sisters, Debbie Lewis, and Dawn Nalley (Kevin).
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her in laws, G. Bruce Phillips, D.L. Summey and Mary Phillips Summey.
A memorial service honoring Dana’s life will be held at Westwood Baptist Church on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 11:00 AM. All who knew and loved Dana are invited to celebrate her life and the many ways she touched our hearts.
Though her physical presence will be missed, Dana’s spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of love and courage that will continue to inspire us all.
