Myron Reese Davis passed from this world to be with his Lord on Monday, November 28, 2022. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Born and raised in Blountstown, Florida, he was a son of the late Joe Reese and Margaret Aultman Davis. Reese later moved to Pickens, SC to begin his family.

He served as a church music leader for many years, using his God given talent for singing to bring glory to God. He was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church.

He was a well-known figure in the Scuba diving world, being a Scuba Instructor trainer, Scuba shop owner, and mentor to many divers. He was instrumental in spreading his love of diving to many in the upstate area; often training multiple generations of divers. His dive trips around the world were legendary, most filling up as soon as announced, with many repeat attendees over the years.

He leaves behind his wife of over 50 years, Patti Lynn Looper Davis; 3 children, Marcus R. Davis (Carami) of Six Mile, Rebecca Davis Brown of Easley, and Amanda Ratliff (Anthony) of Columbia; a sister, Millicent Bailey of Greensboro, NC. He was blessed with 6 grandchildren, Wesley Davis (Ashley), Deidre Curlee (Hunter), Logan Davis, Rachael Brown, Bailey Nyman, Anslee Ratliff; also surviving are 2 great-grandchildren, Roman and Harper Davis.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie Lorraine “Lori” Davis, and a grandson, Kaleb Ratliff.

Memorial services to honor Reese’s life will be conducted 12:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Six Mile Baptist Church. Burial will be private. The family will host an informal time of visitation and remembrances across the street from the church at the Roper Building following the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to Six Mile Baptist Church, PO Box 134, Six Mile SC 29682.

I miss you Reese!

Reese was such a mentor to me when I was going through my PADI certification. He was there w/ Britt and Mary Anne all the way. Super cool role model. Condolences to all family and friends he will be missed but will always be memory never forgotten. May your light forever shine on brother!

It’s been many years since I thought of Reese or of the Bermuda Triangle. However, upon news of his passing, I was suddenly on the platform of his pontoon preparing for my first deep dive on the wall on Lake Jocassee. I was nervous, he was calm. His calmness, humor and confidence in me made me enjoy that dive and every dive after. Reese encouraged me to become a rescue diver, tech diver and even gave me the only retail job that I have ever held. I learned a lot about diving and life during my time working and diving with him. I will never forget the NC trip where we saw a mola mola or the time he let me “fly” his plane. Lots of incredible memories left by an incredible man. My sincere condolences go out to his family and especially Patti who always shared him so graciously with his diving family. I like to imagine him now up there getting ready to dive into warm waters with good visibility, big fish and just the right amount of nitrox in his tanks for his next adventures.

Patti and family, we are so sorry for your loss. We loved Reese and were honored to call him a friend. He and Michael were still making plans! Michael was just telling him about a new plane he found last Sunday. We were all planning to take scuba lessons with him as well. God took him too soon! I have had the honor to dive with Reese on several occasions (as an individual and with my dive group, Dushi Divers, which has a membership of 44 divers). Dushi Divers has had the privilege of joining Bermuda Triangle in Turks and Caicos, Bonaire and just this past October on Blackbird Caye, Belize. I have informed members of the Dushi Divers group (most of whom have had the pleasure of diving with Reese) of this sad news. Following is the message to the Dushi Diver Team: We will Miss you... It is with deep regret that I notify Dushi Divers, we have lost another member; Reese Davis passed away this morning. As many of us know, Reese's has been having increased health difficulties for the past few years... Reese passed away this morning (details will be provided as received). Reese will be remembered and cherished by the Bermuda Triangle family and Dushi Divers... his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of so many scuba divers certified personally by Reese Davis. To honor Reese, a donation has been made to Sea Turtle Conservancy in order to adopt a sea turtle in Reese's memory.

I went to school with Reese. He was a gentleman, and a kind , Christian man. Our sincere condolences are being sent to his wife and family and friends. May He Rest in love. Your Arkansas friends will never forget you.

My mother and I are very saddened to hear of Reese’s passing. We are so blest and thankful for our association with Reese and his family during our times at Red Hill Baptist Church. We are confident that Reese has not stopped singing praises to the King Of Kings and Lord of Lords! Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Patti and the family.

This was a good man with a huge heart, always teaching, training and giving to others. His smile and his laughter would fill a room. Those of us fortunate enough to be his students were given the wonderful gift of proper training as we progressed to certified divers. He had much patience with us. I was proud to know him, to dive with him and to be his friend. I loved him like a Brother. My condolences go to his family.

So sorry for your loss, I met Reese almost 20 years ago when I was given the gift of SCUBA lessons. Every time I cam in the shop he always remembered my name, and was one of the most pleasant people I ever met. There needs to be more people like Reese in this world and it would be a better place. I will miss stopping by and seeing him. Rest in Peace Reese, and I hope to see you again one day in the big ocean in the sky

Reese was a longstanding member of SDI (21+ years) and longtime supporter of the agency. Most of us here have had many interactions with Reese over the years and he was always such a pleasure to work with. Reese is even responsible for training some of our own here at HQ. He is in all of our thoughts and will be missed by the entire family here.

Patti and family. I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news of Reese's death. I love you both very much. I was always touched by his singing.
