It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Leo King, a cherished son, father, brother, and friend. He was born on July 7, 1975, in Greenville, SC, and he passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, in Liberty, SC. He was 50 years old.
He was a 1993 graduate of Liberty High School and later he earned a B.S. degree in computer science from Clemson University.
Michael dedicated many years of his life to serving the community through his work at the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) of Anderson County, where he was respected for his commitment and diligence. A member of Ruhamah Baptist Church and currently attending Liberty First Baptist Church, where his faith had become important to him.
Above all, Michael was a devoted single father to his two sons, Canaan and Hendrix King, who were his pride and joy. He leaves behind his loving parents Randal and Judy King, and sister Melanie Samples (Chase); also surviving are his three nephews, Cade, Ezra, and Avery Samples. He leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edwin and Lorene King, and Jack and Hilda Posey.
A special place in his heart was reserved for his three feline companions. He also was an avid reader, and loved to play the guitar, which he taught himself during high school.
Funeral services to honor Michael’s life will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, October 27, 2025 at Liberty First Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest with his grandparents at Westview Cemetery in Liberty. No formal visitation will be held.
In this time of grief, let us honor Michael’s spirit and the love he shared with us all. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
