Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Martin will be held 12:00 PM, Tuesday, June 28, 2022 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held prior to the service, Tuesday from 11:00 until 11:45 AM at the mortuary. Private burial will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Melvin Eugene Martin, 93, of Easley, South Carolina, died Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the home of his daughter. Born in Central, he was the widower of Emogene Alexander Martin to whom he was married for 71 years and a son of the late Capers Hathel and Irene Pinion Martin.

He was a retired brick mason with Daniel Construction Co. and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are two daughters, Faye Freeman and Donna Jones (Eddie) both of Easley; a son, Jeff Martin of Greenville; a sister, Syble Lackey of Central; a brother, Capers Martin Jr. of Central; five grandchildren, Troy Freeman, Brody Jones, Toby Wofford (Alonna), Stone Martin, and Olivia Martin; four great grandchildren, William Freeman, Bowen Wofford, Briar Wofford, and Brinley Wofford.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Eunice Burkett, Gladys Palmer, Lillian Dobson, and Dorothy Ann Martin, and two brothers, Fred Martin, Tommy Martin.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and care Mr. Martin received over the last three years by his very special caregiver, Stacey Waters.
