Kevin Leigh Wells, 73, of Liberty, South Carolina, died Monday, February 1, 2021 at Prisma Health-Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Scituate, MA he was a son of the late Lewis and Gloria Calhoun Wells.

He was a graduate of Clemson University, and received his doctorate from Sarasota University.

Mr. Wells worked in textiles for many years and later retired from Limestone College where he was a professor for several years. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in military intelligence.

Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Margaret Wells of the home; 2 brothers, Alden Wells of Braintree, MA, and Blair Wells of Braintree, MA; 2 sisters, Susan Narlee of Scituate, MA, and Hillary O’Brien of Braintree, MA; a special friend, Lana Drochovia; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Craig Wells.

Mr. Wells wish was to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.

I learned today of Kevin's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. I first met Kevin when he was my professor at Limestone. Over the course of the years at Limestone he became a treasured friend as well. He always imparted bits of wisdom just when it seemed they were most needed and if you needed to be entertained by a good story, Kevin was your man for that. We shared an appreciation for things that go boom and he was instrumental in my decision to begin sharing my knowledge with others through teaching. Although I kidded him about his Yankee roots, I told him he had lived here long enough to be claimed as one of us locals. Wishing you comfort, Margo, during this difficult time.

Margo, Susan, Alden, Blair and Hillary, our thoughts and prayers are with you and all your families! So hard to believe we have lost another loved one in our family! So like his dad! Smart, talented, a great conversationalist, and played a mean set of bagpipes! He will be missed greatly!

I worked with Kevin at Stone Mfg. and we became good friends. He was such a joy to be around. The world is a sadder place without him and I will continue to cherish the memories of the time we spent together.
