Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Holcombe will be Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the mortuary.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and CDC guidelines, masks are recommended and social distancing will be observed. Limited capacity will be available in the chapel, however the livestream of his service will be available for viewing at 1:00 PM, Wednesday by visiting his obituary at www.libertymortuary.com
Joseph Kenneth “Hawk” Holcombe, 83, of Pickens, South Carolina, died Saturday, December 26, 2020 at AnMed Healthcare. Born in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Joseph Earl Holcombe. Hawk was an avid golfer and was a longtime member at Pickens County Country Club. He previously worked at Cental Concrete co. as well as Champion Aviation. He was a member of Gilead Independant Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Sue Thomas Holcombe of the home; a daughter, Angie Cantrell(Charlie) of Marietta; a step daughter, Cindy Hamlett(Tony) of Liberty; a son, Scott Holcombe(Joan) of Willimston; a half sister, Leann Leben of Blackshear, GA; a half brother, Bobby Holcombe of Barnwell, SC; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Holcombe.
The family will be at their respective homes.

Hawk was a faithful and trusted employee at the Material Resources Center of Clemson University. I remember the day I hired Hawk. He came to the job to work part time but he gave full time effort and focus. He was a fully invested part of our team. He would stop to assist anyone who had a question in need of an answer. He would willingly stop to assist anyone who needed help lifting the school science kits that were packed and shipped out. He showed respect for the thoughts and opinions of everyone who worked in the center and was well respected by all who worked with him. A warm smile, a ready laugh, and a man of his word. He leaves behind good memories that speak to a fine Christian example. May God bless his family during this time of grief and loss.
