It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack Nation, who peacefully left this world on June 25, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on September 5, 1933, in Pendleton, SC, he was a son of the late Walt and Lonie Sargent Nation.
He was a beloved husband, brother, and friend who lived a life filled with kindness and dedication. During his retirement he could always be found working in his garden, and he was known for his love for tomatoes and other vegetables.
Jack spent many years working in the automotive industry at Crane Chevrolet in Easley, where he became known for his hard work and friendly demeanor. After retiring, he devoted himself to his family and his long-time faith community at Slab Town Baptist Church, where he was a cherished member.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Betty Jean Ward Nation; his brother, Junior Nation; and his sister, Pat Williamson; also surviving is his son in law, Floyd Poley. Jack’s warmth and laughter will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Poley, and a sister, Mary Taylor.
A funeral service will be held in his honor at 2:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2025, in the Liberty Mortuary. Following the service, Jack will be laid to rest at Abbott Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:45 until 1:45 PM at the mortuary.
In these difficult times, we encourage everyone to come together to remember Jack and to support one another. His legacy of love and community spirit will continue to inspire us all.
