David Shirley left a message on August 23, 2022:
When I heard of Sack's passing, a flood of memories came to me. I thought of the many times with him in Pendleton, times shared with Betty, Truman Gambrell, Nell and Carol Cook, J.B. Ouzts, the great students at Pendleton High School, and many more. I also remembered seeing him at Littlejohn Coliseum a few years ago. He was walking near where I was sitting. He saw me; his eyes lit up; he smiled really big, and he came to talk to me. He knew I was someone he was supposed to know, but I knew he no longer could recall my name, or most anyone's. We had a good conversation, and then he went on to talk with someone at the scorer's table. Sack was unique, and I mean that in a positive way. I loved it when he "held court" at Bill's barber shop. It always was a treat to be there when he was. I watched the memorial service from my hospital bed. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but my heart was there. It was a fitting tribute to life well lived. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

One of the great highlights of our daughters' childhood was having annual "all girl" visits with Betty and Ty, and then having dinners with Betty and Sack at Myrtle Beach each year. Our girls affectionately called Sack "funny man." Sack brought so much light to every room and joy to every heart. We love you guys and you are in our prayers. Love, Bob, Kathy, Caroline and Elizabeth Mahoney

Betty and Family: So sorry to hear of Sack's passing. My geometry teacher, my dad's buddy (Daddy provided some game security at Pendleton), and Clemson's football spotter for Jim Phillips. I remember his energy in the classroom, his nicknames for everyone, and his ability to control a rowdy bunch of football players. I also remember his coaching Legion baseball, and enthusiastically disagreeing with umpires. My prayer for you all is to remember all the good times and rejoice in his being made well in Christ.
