Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Holcombe will be 3:00 PM Saturday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at the mortuary.
Mary Lou Smith Holcombe, 85, of 110 Satterfield Road, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Hosanna Health and Rehab. Born in Walhalla she was the widow of William Franklin Holcombe and a daughter of the late Fletcher G. and Willie Blackwell Smith.
She retired from American Enka, and was an avid gardener who loved flowers.
Surviving are two daughters, Cathy Barton of Easley, and Dianne Corn (Michael) of Pickens; three sons, Wayne Roger Holcombe (Pam) of Simpsonville, Ron Holcombe of Liberty, and William Allen “Billy” Holcombe of Easley; also surviving are two grandchildren raised in the home, Eric Powell (Christie), and Starla Smith (Dustin); five sisters, Willie Owens, Bessie Durham, Ann McClain, Rita Davis, and Minnie Manley; a brother, Turner Smith; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren; special friend, Gail Black.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death two sisters, Martha Rogers and Lucy Smith, and two brothers, Dock and Roy Smith.
The family will be at the home of Diane and Michael Corn, 373 Brandy Lane, Pickens SC 29671.
In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the St. Jude Medical Research Hospital, or Mountain View Baptist Church Youth Ministry, 336 Mountain View Church Road, Six Mile SC 29682.
