Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Stansell will be held Thursday at Liberty First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 until 3:00 PM in the church sanctuary. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
Martha Nalley Stansell, 72, of 118 Alta Vista Court, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday June 3, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Born in Seneca, she was the wife of Major Jackson “M.J.” Stansell Jr., of the home, and a daughter of the late Riley Franklin and Ruth Lesley Nalley. She attended both Erskine College and Clemson University earning a Master’s Degree. She was retired from the School District of Pickens County after teaching at Liberty High School for 38 years. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was an avid reader and loved to sing. She was a very active member of Liberty First Baptist Church where she and M.J. had attended for years.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Kay LeRoy(Sam) of Greenwood; two sons, Mike Stansell of Charleston and Brett Stansell(Angela) of Easley; a sister, Sara Nalley of Columbia; and seven grandchildren, Elyse LeRoy South(Mac), Philip and Abbey LeRoy, and Camryn, Emily, Connor and Riley Stansell.
