Lucile Holtzclaw Campbell, 93, of 109 Morrow Street, went home to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, November 20, 2019. Born in Greer she was the widow of James E. “Red” Campbell, Jr. and a daughter of the late Lee J. Holtzclaw, Sr. and Eula Sudduth Holtzclaw.
She was a 1944 graduate of Greer High School and was formerly an active member of Concord United Methodist Church where she was the right hand to the preacher. She was an active participant in all areas of the church and was a faithful member of the UMW. Presently she was a member of Greer First Baptist Church where she was involved with Friendly Neighbors, bible school, and WMU.
Lucile loved sewing, reading, and camping at the campgrounds and spending time at the beach. She loved to spend her spare time volunteering through Greer Community Ministries @ Big Thursday.
Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Campbell of Greer, and Mary Alice Di Sparano (Bob) of Westminster; a son, Tim Campbell (Kathy Massengale) of Greer; one sister, Mildred VanPatton of Greer; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hughes of McLean, VA, and Amber Campbell of Greer; a great nephew she loved as her own grandson, Brad Holtzclaw of Six Mile; also surviving are a brother in law, Moe Brannon of Mooresville, NC, and a sister in law, Jean Campbell of Greer.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Fraser Holtzclaw, James T. Holtzclaw, and Lee J. Holtzclaw, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Monday, November 25, 2019 at Greer First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45 PM at the church. Burial at Mountain View Cemetery will be private.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to MSA Home Health & Hospice, especially her caregivers, Dana, Quentin, and Joanna for their tender, kind, and compassionate care showed to Lucile during her sickness.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Greer Community Ministries, 738 S. Line Street Ext., Greer SC 29650.
