Funeral services to honor Derrill’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Johnny Derrill Maxie, 62, of 3509 Walhalla Highway, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Richard M. Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home in Anderson. Born in Seneca, he was the son of Nora Julian Maxie of Seneca and the late Horace J. Maxie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and a Member of Secona Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of forty years, Kathy Ellenburg Maxie of the home; His Children, Lori and Shon Herron of Six Mile and Ashley and Michael Anderson of Easley; five beautiful grandchildren, John, Alex, Trey, Jessie Grace and Lucas; three sisters, Pam Bowen(Keese). Kathy Wyatt(Dean), and Julie Abercrombie; and a special friend and long time hunting and fishing buddy, Danny Brown.

The family will be at the home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Richard M. Campbell Veteran’s Nursing Home: 4605 Belton Highway, Anderson, SC 29621.
