Joan Murray Miller, 76, of 124 Silver Bell Lane, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 in Sunset, SC. Born in Bay City, Michigan, she was the wife of James Edward Miller for 51 full and happy years and the daughter of the late Roy and Edna Taylor Murray.
A memorial service to honor the life of Joan Miller will be held at the Pickens, SC Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Reception and fellowship with many that loved her will immediately follow.
Joan was a graduate of Miami-Dade College and retired from Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed playing golf and bridge as well. She was very active with the Vineyards Fire Department including coordination of meals and refreshments for the firemen, creating the logo for the Vineyards Fire Department which is still proudly used today, and countless other wonderful and thoughtful things. Most importantly she was the proud grandmom of 12 wonderful grandchildren. She and her husband Jim attended Pickens Presbyterian Church, as well as the monthly services at the McKinney Chapel in Sunset, SC.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Christine Hassis and her husband Francis of Cypress, Texas, three sons, Craig Miller and his wife Stefanie of Atlanta, Georgia, Brad Miller and his wife Melody of Cincinnati, Ohio and Patrick Miller and his wife Kim of Ocean Pines, Maryland, a brother, Milton Murray of Bay City, Michigan, and twelve grandchildren: Anderson, Kendall, Carrigan, Madeleine, Connor, Lauren, Rebecca, Austin, Karah, Ethan, Skylar and Saylor.
Joan was predeceased by her brother, Roger Murray, as well as her parents Roy and Edna Murray.
