Funeral services to honor Mrs. Layman’s life will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the mortuary.
Jewell Kelley Layman, 73, of 620 Hunter Mill Road, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Greenville she was a daughter of the late George R. and Ethel Hicks Kelley.
She retired from Danfoss in Easley and was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church. During her retirement she volunteered as a Guardian ad Litem in Pickens County.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Billy Allen Layman, Sr. of the home; a daughter, Debra Brooks (Mark) of Liberty; a son, Billy “Allen” Layman, Jr. of Liberty; three sisters, Shirley Spraque (Earl), Ethelene Tollison, and Janice Sullivan (Allen); four grandchildren, Kyle Layman, Nick Layman, Benjamin Brooks (Nancy), and Zachary Brooks; a great grandson, Colt Brooks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Scott Layman, a grandson, Jonathon Levi Brooks, and two sisters, Eva Walker and Joan Tollison.
