James Sherwood Powers, 88, of 427 Lakewood Drive, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Hospice House in Anderson. Born in West Springfield, Massachusetts he was a son of the late Richard and Beatrice Powers.
He retired from Northeast Utilities and during his free time he loved to golf and fish.
Mr. Powers served his country during the Korean War and was a United States Air Force Veteran.
Surviving are a son, Aaron Powers and his wife, Francine “Tor Tor” of Liberty; a daughter, Kim Eaker and her husband Wayne of Townville; four grandchildren, Brittany Hillyer, Dustin Powers-Kinney, Dakota Powers-Kinney, and Shaun Powers; also surviving are one great grandchild, Mason Hillyer.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at the Liberty Mortuary. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
