I had just returned from 2nd grade in Japan. When I brought souvenirs in to explain to the class, Rick was there and offered his friendship. That was 62 years ago. We have been friends ever since.

I am so sorry to hear of Rick's passing. I worked with Rick at Swirl Inc. in Easley. We shared many laughs. He was a very witty guy and friend. My sincere sympathies are with you. Terri Owens

To the family of Rick Hickling... "Ricky" was one of my best friends from early childhood. I spent many hours at his Miami Shores home with his sister, Mom and Dad and his grandmother. We went to school together including elementary and Georgia Military Academy. After he returned from Vietnam he lived with me and my wife for a year or so. I even got him hired by National Airlines. We last talked by phone a couple of months ago. I learned of his passing on the internet when I was verifying the address for a Christmas card. It is with deep sorrow and much love my wife Kathy and I send our condolences. May God bless your family in your time of grief. I know Rick has gone to a better place. Sincerely, David and Kathleen Gibson 2145 Via Esplanade Punta Gorda, FL 33950 941-613-9880

When Rick's sister Marie and I divorced, Marie remained a friend to me over the years until her passing. I told Rick he would always be my brother-in-law no matter what and thru the years we kept in touch with each other to see how each of us was doing. Not just a brother-in-law but as a brother and true friend. He left an awesome legacy, his beautiful and loving wife, Kathy, a beautiful daughter Heather and two exceptional sons, Tommy and Kenny and their families along with grandchildren that he loved dearly. Rick, I'm glad I got to tell you "I love you" over the phone in our last phone call and I heard you say you loved me too. I know that. Such overwhelming sorrow I felt when I heard the news even knowing it was coming. The same as my brother. No more pain and now May you R.I.P. Rick Hickling, my brother/friend. May God give your family the peace and comfort they need at this time. I know you will be watching over them. With much love and respect Your brother/friend, Chuck Snelgrove
