Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Chappell will be 11:00 AM Monday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the mortuary.
Evangeline “Vangie” Beck Chappell, 86, of 121 Belmont Circle, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 29, 2011 surrounded by her family. Born in Cherokee, North Carolina she was a daughter of the late Arnold and Gady Matthews Beck.
Mrs. Chappell was an avid reader, who loved the outdoors and gardening. She also loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She attended Full Life Christian Fellowship, Church of God, where she loved to work with the Food Bank ministry.
Surviving are her husband, Arnold Chappell of the home; two daughters, Bea Roach of Easley, and Sherry Chappell of Greenville; five sons, Kenneth Watkins, Michael Chappell, Tony Chappell, and Dennis Chappell all of Easley, and Gary Chappell of Pickens; a brother, Jack Beck (Lottie) of Cherokee, NC; 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons, George Harold Watkins and Johnny Watkins, and four grandchildren, Jamie Chappell, Sandy Watkins, Kayla Watkins, and Jeffrey Watkins.
The family will be at the home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials in her honor may be made to any local food bank.
