Eugene Kenneth Tomlinson went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 13, 2018 at his home.

Born in Anderson he was a son of the Late John Lee and Mamie Tomlinson.

Ken is survived by his wife of 61 1/2 years, Clara Pilgrim Tomlinson; two sons Anthony Tomlinson (Shannon) and Eric Tomlinson (Danielle); a daughter, Angela Tomlinson; a sister in law, Rozell Garrison; also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Camdon, Carley, Gabe, Jameson, Jaxson, and Sophia Tomlinson, Eric Anderson and Grace Fernandez.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eric Fernandez; brothers in law, Carl Pilgrim and Bill Garrison, three brothers and four sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Tomlinson was a United States Marine Corp veteran with 3 years of service, and later served 5 years in the United Sates Army. During his military service he served 18 months in the Korean War. He later retired from the Greenville County Library after 28 years.

Ken was a long-time member of Tremont Church of God.

Funeral services to honor Mr. Tomlinson’s life will be conducted 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Entombment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with military honors. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 11:30 am until 1:00 PM at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Tremont Church of God Missions or Building Fund, P.O. Box 2187, Greenville, 29602-2187.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Clara, Anthony , Eric, and Angelia. Your dad was so special to me. I grew up from a kid down the street. He was always outside , and sharing a smile. When I was a little kid , he would call me the neighborhood news reporter :blush:. He would say , Pat, I will give you a quarter to find out anything that he ask me. I truly had so much respect for this man. He was not only a father, husband, and hero, he was man with lots of love , and laughter . Mr Ken, I hope that you are dancing in the sky with all of our love ones. I will continue to keep all the family in my thoughts and prayers.
