Cecil Wayne Sanders, formerly of Liberty passed away Friday, August 26, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family, following a brief battle with cancer. Wayne was born in Liberty, a son of the late Jay P. and Lorene Porter Sanders. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Jerry.

Wayne was a member of Zion United Methodist Church of Easley. He was a 1950 graduate of Liberty High School, where he was a member of the 1947 State Championship Football team. He retired from Libco Mills after 34 years, where he gained the respect and admiration of many employees and co-workers.

He is survived by Faye Gravley Sanders, his high school sweetheart and wife of nearly 61 years, his son Rick and wife Cindy, of Liberty, and his daughter Donna Rogers and husband Ken, of Liberty. He was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren, Genny Thomas of Pendleton, Lori Simpson and husband Randy of Six Mile, Brandon Vinson and wife Stephanie of Liberty, Derek Vinson and wife Shay of Easley, Scott Sanders and Jen of Winston-Salem, NC, Stephen Sanders and fiancé Andrea of Phoenix, Az., Elizabeth Sanders of Jackson, Miss., David and Patrick Rogers of Liberty and thirteen great grandchildren, Ryan, Hunter, Braden, Lexie, Whitley, Will, Annalena, Molly, Landen, Aiden, Savannah, Cael and Laney. He is also survived by his sister Bethel Alexander of Greenville, SC. and a brother Wilton of Easley.

Visitation will be held at the Liberty Mortuary from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday at Zion United Methodist Church, 432 Zion Church Rd, Easley, SC. A private burial will be held at a later date.
