Barry Russell Freeman, 62, of 1159 Old Liberty Road, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020 at his residence. Born in Greenville he was a son of the late Ray Bruce and Lillian Simmons Freeman.

Barry was employed by BASF where he worked in the lab. He loved camping, golf, and just all around handyman work that involved helping people.

He was a member and Deacon of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Sherry Gilstrap Freeman of the home; two daughters, Kerry Freeman of Pickens and Kendra Brock (Sorrell) of Greenville; a sister, Brenda Owens; three brothers, Danny, Randy, and Delma Freeman.

Due to the CDC guidelines concerning social distancing the family will celebrate Barry’s life at a later date.

I can’t believe it’s been nearly two years! I can hear you laugh and whistle in my mind! Growing up, you made us all so happy and I’ll never forget you! Love you uncle Berry!!! I’m so sorry for the loss for Sherry, Kerry and Kendra, you’ve been and will remain in my prayers!

So sorry for your loss. Ken came to your house today to visit and was devastated to find out Barry had gone to be with the Lord. Words cannot express our sadness. Barry helped Ken so much in the time they worked together in textiles. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family. Our continued prayers in this heartfelt time. So sorry to read of Barry's passing. We were neighborhood kids in the 1960's. Saw last him a few months ago,we rekindled old friendship and caught up with each others life. May our God bring peace and grace to the family during this time. Wendell Hunter- Easley

Barry always made me laugh. From college rivalry to conducting a wedding, Barry made everything enjoyable. He was an amazing example of a wonderful husband, father, and friend. I will miss his infectious smile and laughter. My love to Sherry, Kerry, Kendra, and Sorrell.

Berry was one of the first to welcome me and Ray to church, he made us feel like we were home. I am so sorry that my health has kept me from church for the last few months. When I am able to go back It won't be the same without Berry's big wide smile, He will be missed.
