Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Burns will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at Liberty Mortuary. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Alvin William Burns, 77, of 104 Yates Road died Friday at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens. Born in Greenville, he was the husband of Selena Childress Burns of the home and a son of the late Styles Dendy Burns, Sr. and Phoebe Owens Burns. He served his country in the U.S. Army and later retired from Borton Builders where he worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of Calumet Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Greg Burns(Meahgan) and Todd Burns both of Liberty; three sisters, Sarah Simmons of Greenville, Brenda Holliday of Easley and Ann Becknell of Liberty; and one brother, Wayne Burns of Slabtown.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Denise Burns; and six brothers.
